 WEEK FIVE: LORDSHIP OF CHRIST

DAY # 4: LORDSHIP AND DISCIPLESHIP

MEMORY VERSE: “But why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’, and not do the things which I say?”    Luke 6:46

Discipleship and Lordship are twin truths. Every person that becomes a Christian is a disciple of Christ. The challenge is whether you are a good one or a bad one. An obedient one or a disobedient one?

You must look at Luke 14:25-33 --- greatest text in Bible on discipleship.

His love must be first --- beyond all other loves. He alone must have priority. Your love for Him must be paramount.  14:26. He has given you what no one else can.

You must submit to His Lordship and follow Him…v.27!

Read Romans 14:8-9

You must count the cost! 14:28-31

A revealing, telling passage that cannot be ignored!  Look at v.33. 

Read the memory verse one more time.

WEEK 5 DAY 3

 WEEK FIVE: LORDSHIP OF CHRIST

DAY # 3: THE DAILY BATTLE OF LORDSHIP

MEMORY VERSE:

A commitment to Jesus Christ involves a daily battle to acknowledge that Lordship in our lives. It is easy to say “Jesus is Lord.” It is much harder to live it day by day, isn’t it?  We must grasp the fact that it will always be a struggle. People do not acknowledge His Lordship for many reasons. Let me give you four reasons:

“God may ask us to do something we don’t want to do.” So…?

“We think we know what is best for us.”  You really don’t!

“We are afraid that what we give God will be taken away completely.” Never!

“We are not sure God has our best interest at heart.” Always has our best in mind!

Really? God knows your future, all about you. God knows everything about us and still loves us. God is eternally omniscient. So, why not trust him with your life as you have with your eternity?

WEEK 5, DAY 2: LORDSHIP AND SCRIPTURES

 DAY #2: SCRIPTURES PROCLAIM LORDSHIP OF CHRIST

MEMORY VERSE: “But why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord’ and not do the things which I say?”   Luke 6:46

The Lordship of Christ is not something that man created. It is a Biblical doctrine and is seen all throughout Scripture. I want to encourage you to read the following verses and see what each one says about the Lordship of Christ. Take your Bible or Bible app and check out the following verses:

John 1:1-3 – Jesus is the Word and Creator

Colossians 1:16-17 – Creator of all things

Acts 2:36 – God has made Him Lord1

Ephesians 1:21-23 – Lord over all creation

Revelation 19:15-16 – King of kings and Lord of lords

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of the living God. He has always existed and always will exist. He is Lord over all things --- present, past and future! There is coming a day when all people will bow their knee and confess Him as Lord.  See the truth of Philippians 2:9-11.

WEEK 5 DAY 1: LORDSHIP OF CHRIST

 DAY # 1: LORDSHIP: A CRUCIAL ISSUE

MEMORY VERSE: “But why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?”   Luke 6:46

Lordship teaching is probably the most critical issue of the Christian life! This is because Lordship requires us to be honest, transparent and open to the teaching of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ doesn’t come in various installment packages. You do not receive Him today as your Savior and then 5 years from now, you make Him your Lord. He is Lord, already. See Acts 2:36!

You cannot accept what Jesus gives (which is salvation) without receiving who Jesus is and He is Lord! We must acknowledge that Lordship and submit to His Lordship and follow Him as Lord in the totality of our lives! 

This week is going to be challenging and probably very convicting. The Holy Spirit will challenge your heart and cause you to ask the really hard questions about your personal commitment to Christ!

Submission to His Lordship is more than a one-time commitment. It involves a daily yielding and a daily, consistent following after Christ. Lordship is a daily commitment to Jesus Christ.

WEEK 4 DAY 7

 DAY 7: A REVIEW & SUMMARY

MEMORY VERSE: “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”    Jeremiah 33:3

Prayer can be a very intimidating subject. It can be less so if we remember certain principles and truths.

JESUS had an active prayer life! Morning. Night. Crises. Death. General thanks.

WHEN we pray we are to: Ask in Christ’s name

  Ask in faith

  Ask in God’s will

  Ask with a pure heart

  Ask continually

A = ?
C = ?

T = ?

S = ?

God ALWAYS answers prayers! Sometimes the answers are direct. Sometimes they are different. Sometimes they are delayed. And sometimes they are denied. But God always answers the prayers of His people!

WEEK 4 DAY 6

 DAY # 6: THE BENEFITS OF PRAYER

MEMORY VERSE: “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”     Jeremiah 33:3

Prayer is a privilege and yes, it involves time and commitment. But it also has benefits. Real benefits. Blessed benefits. I am going to give you several Scripture passages that tell you what these benefits are. Take a minute and see for yourself.

Philippians 4:6-7: God will guard and protect your mind

Psalm 34:4: God heard and God delivered

Romans 8:26-27: Benefits from the Holy Spirit Himself

Jeremiah 33:3: Great and mighty things

Ephesians 3:20-21: Much more than we ask or think

Those are real benefits from the source of all our blessings!

WEEK 4 DAY 5

 DAY # 5: GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS PRAYERS

MEMORY VERSE: “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”         Jeremiah 33:3

Adoniram Judson, a great missionary to Burma, once said “I am persuaded that we are more deficient in praying than in any other grace. I have never prayed sincerely and earnestly for anything, but that it came at some time --- no matter how distant the day, and somehow, in some shape, the answer always came.”

GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS PRAYERS! Sometimes the answers are:

1. Direct – Exodus 3:7-9 – daily protection & provision from God

2. Different – from what we expect – II Corinthians 12:7-10

3. Delayed – Luke 18:1-7; a delayed request is never a denied request

4. Denied – Matthew 20:20-23 – God doesn’t give us what we ask for because we do not ask for the right things

When we pray “God’s will be done” we are saying this > “Here is my request but Lord, you know best what I need.” If what we ask is best for us, God will send it. If not, He will send a better gift because He knows best what we need!

God always answers prayers! Remember that! Take a minute and get blessed!
