WEEK 10 DAY 1: WHAT ARE SPIRITUAL GIFTS?

 WEEK 10: SPIRITUAL GIFTS

DAY 1: WHAT ARE SPIRITUAL GIFTS?

MEMORY VERSE: There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit; There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.”  I Corinthians 12:4-5

As a Christian, it is very important to know what spiritual gifts are --- especially since you have at least one. The Bible defines spiritual gifts as “those gifts given by the Spirit of God for the accomplishment of God’s purposes in the world and for the edification of the Church, the body of Christ.” I will offer another definition: “a gift of special qualification granted by the Holy Spirit to every believer in order to empower that believer to serve within the framework of the Body of Christ.”

Here is perhaps an even better definition: “a spiritual gift is a unique grace gift that is given by the Holy Spirit to each believer for the service of Christ in connection with the Church in order that the Church may function and grow as it brings glory to God.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)

All three definitions point out certain critical facts about spiritual gifts:

The Source: the special grace of the Holy Spirit

The Nature: spiritual ability, endowment and power

The Purpose: worship, ministry, service, and evangelism

Every Christian has at least one spiritual gift.

Many have more than one … BUT

No Christian has all the spiritual gifts.
