 WEEK 9: LIFE IN THE SPIRIT

DAY 4: THE UPWARD LOOK

MEMORY VERSE: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things …” John 14:26

The place to begin is always with our relationship to God. This upward look will produce that which is so very necessary in our relationship to God. The three characteristics will should epitomize our relationship to God are love, joy and peace.

Love = “agape love” = selfless, sacrificial love, divine love. We are to love God with all our hearts, souls, mind and strengths. We will love Him supremely. He will come first on our lives because of all that he has done for us. Read Matthew 22:34-40

Joy = “chara” = it speaks of the joy that we have found in Christ alone. The world has its happiness and merriment, revelry and entertainment but this fruit is all about the joy of the presence of Christ in our life!  Read John 16:20, 22, 24.

Peace = “eeirence” = this speaks of the peace we have in knowing God. When you love God supremely and know the joy of His presence in your life, it gives you a peace with life in the midst of all tribulations and trials. 

Read Isaiah 26:3; Philippians 4:6-7; Romans 8:28    

Read John 14:27 and see what Christ said about peace! And love in John 13:34
