JESUS = THE ANGEL OF THE LORD

 JESUS IS THE ANGEL OF THE LORD

TEXT: “And the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of the burning bush. He looked and behold, the bush was burning but it  was not consumed.” 

Exodus 3:2

The verse referenced above is about the confrontation that Moses had with the angel of the Lord. The LORD appeared to Moses and told Moses that He wanted him to be the deliverer of His people who were in bondage down in Egypt. Moses was amazed at the sight. He was even more amazed when God told him what He wanted Moses to do.

Who was this angel of the Lord?

We see this angel in Genesis 22.

Again with Balaam in Numbers 22.

With Gideon in Judges 6.

Elijah in I Kings 19.

David in I Chronicles 21.

Angel = messenger

LORD = self existent, eternal, self sufficient God

It is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ in His pre-incarnate existence.

Jesus Christ is God but He has always existed. (See Colossians 1:16-20)

He is the Messenger of God. 

He is the Spokesperson for God. John 3:34 and 6:63

He has come to reveal God to us! God’s words and God’s truth!

Mysterious? Oh yes, for God is mysterious.

Supernatural? Yes, for God is supernatural!

Jesus is the eternal Son of the living God.

The visible expression of an invisible God!

Jesus is God!
