Have you ever come close to a tragic accident and after the adrenalin rush, you said something like, “boy, was I lucky?” You may react similarly in other close calls and say, “wow! I dodged a bullet!” Have you ever looked at your neighbor or a family member and said, “they just catch all the breaks?”
In the world of God’s providence there is no such thing as luck. There is no such reality as stray bullets. There is no such entity as a “break.” The child of God and student of the Word knows that the Bible teaches that God is in control. It wasn’t luck or fate or a good break. IT WAS GOD!
Psalm 37:23 “the steps of a good man are ordered (or established) by the LORD.”
Question is simple: do you believe it?
Is God in control?
Or is Satan in control?
Or maybe you are in control?
Is it fate? Or luck? Or mere chance?
Providence is defined as “God upholds, directs, disposes, and governs
all creatures, actions and things
from the greatest of things to the least,
by His most holy and wise providence,
according to His infallible foreknowledge
and His infinite power and His immutable wisdom
to the praise and glory of His wisdom, power, justice, goodness and mercy!
Mere luck? I don’t think so.
This Sunday we will take God’s Word and answer that issue from the pages of
Holy Scripture. What do you believe? And why do you believe what you believe?
Sunday worship. 10:15 a.m. Livestream. YouTube. Or you can go to:
Thank God for His loving providence over my life! No luck. Just God’s undeserved grace and mercy.
