JESUS IS THE LIFE
John 14:6 is rich with eternal truth. There, Jesus made the profound statement, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no man cometh to the Father but by me.”
There are two primary Greek words for life:
One is “bios” = the breath or spirit that animates our physical body.
Every living, breathing human being has “bios.”
The other is “zoe” which refers to spiritual life.
Only true born again Christians possess this life.
It is a gift of God’s unchanging grace.
Man has “bios.” He needs “zoe” because Ephesians 2:1-3 teaches that unsaved man is spiritually dead in his sins. Unbelieving man has a physical life. He has “bios.” He can walk, talk, work, play and is alive and well physically.
He doesn’t have “zoe” and that is what he needs so desperately. He is spiritually dead.
He is spiritually dead to his relationship to God.
Dead to spiritual truth.
Dead to the things of God.
What unsaved man, spiritually dead men, need more than anything else is life. That life comes from Christ alone. He is the great life giver. He is the source of all spiritual life. Take your New Testament and read John 1:4, 9-13; John 6:35-40; John 8:12.
This LIfe Giver, even Jesus , has promised to give life to all who would come to HIm. John 6:37
