PRECIOUS …
There is a strong connection between the blood and every divine grace gift that comes to us from the Lord. We Christians make much of the blood because the Bible does. In I Peter 1:19 it talks of our being “redeemed by the precious blood of Christ.” Not with corruptible things like silver and gold but with the blood of Christ!
The word “precious” is used through the Old and New Testaments:
For example, in Psalm 35:17 it refers to the preciousness of life itself.
Psalm 36:7 calls the lovingkindness of the Lord “precious.”
Then, the classic passage in Psalm 116:15, it declares that the death of the saints of God are “precious” in the sight of the Lord. Not in the sight of the world. But in His sight!
Psalm 139:17, the Psalmist declares that the thoughts of the Lord are “precious.”
In the New Testament, I Peter reminds us of how “precious” genuine faith really is.
II Peter 2:4 calls the promises of God “precious.”
Have you ever noticed that little word “precious?”
Nothing is more precious than the blood of Christ. None of your possessions. All are perishable and must be left behind when we die. You are precious to God because, as a believer, God gave His most treasured gift for your salvation. It took the blood of Christ to wash away all your sins!
