JESUS IS THE TRUTH
John 14:6 “... I am THE truth…”
There are many today who have a discombobulated definition of truth. To them, truth is whatever happens to be convenient at the time. Truth is what they say it is to be. Truth, is them, is relative to their life, experience and their situation. There are no absolutes.
In stark contrast, when Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate in the Judgment Hall, Pilate asked Him, “what is truth?” Jesus looked him squarely in the eye and said, “I am the truth.” Read John 18:37-38
Jesus did not come to merely communicate truth, though He did it well.
He embodied truth.
He was truth incarnate.
He lived truth.
He died truth.
He arose truth.
He is forever truth!
And in doing so, He revealed the character of God --- that God is holy, sinless, just and righteous.
He revealed God’s plan of salvation. Namely, that He was the only way of salvation.
On that old rugged cross, Jesus demonstrated what God thought of man and his sins.
He revealed how God planned to deal with that sin.
And He revealed the ultimate depth of our need.
