THE CHRISTIAN AND HIS BIBLE

DAY # 4: THE CHRISTIAN AND HIS BIBLE

MEMORY VERSE: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

                                                                                                              II Timothy 3:16-17

Here we encounter what is sometimes called the Goodyear Principle > this is where the rubber meets the road! The Bible is utterly, totally and absolutely indispensable to the Christian.

It is vital for spiritual nourishment and growth! If you feel weak and that you are not growing as you should, the primary reason is probably due to your neglect of the Word. Just like we need physical nourishment for our bodies, we need to draw nourishment for the Word of God to feed our souls!

Jesus Himself stated that “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the Word of God.”

Bible reading must be a daily priority.  Acts 17:11

Bible study must be a weekly priority.  II Timothy 2:15

Bible feeding is necessary for spiritual growth.  II Peter 3:18

It is good to read other books about the Bible. It is good to hear others teach the Bible. But there is no substitute for daily, individual, personal reading of the Word!
