 A COMBINED PERSPECTIVE ON ATTRIBUTES

There are some things you need to understand as we move forward. There are two kinds of attributes, as the so-called scholars divide them. There are communicable attributes and there are incommunicable attributes.

“Communicable attributes” = are attributes such as love and wisdom and justice that find their fullest expression in Him but can be displayed on a smaller scale by His image bearers. That's us. We are created in God’s image. God is love and we have some love but God’s love is fuller, deeper and wider than our love.

“Incommunicable attributes” = are attributes that God alone possesses, such as eternality, self existent, self sufficiency, immutability and omniscience. 

All of God’s attributes are interconnected and are not independent of each other.

They belong to God alone and always will belong to HIm.

God neither gains nor loses any attributes. Ever.

The God of the Old Testament is the God of the New Testament!

Each attribute characterizes and complements every other attribute.

God’s attributes cannot be divided and separated and they are forever linked.

These attributes have a relevance and implication for our daily lives.

This is more than a blog and academic study. A study of God is practical and applicable and relevant. It is foundational for it is only when we know God that we can appropriately worship and serve Him.
