THE SINLESSNESS OF JESUS
TEXT: “For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens.” Hebrews 7:26
Do you ever think about the significance of the sinless life of Jesus Christ?
What would have happened if Jesus had sinned?
Was there ever any chance whatsoever that Jesus could have sinned?
What does His sinlessness mean to me today?
This is a subject that is deserving of some thought … on our part. Think of the magnitude of it. Only one person never sinned. Just one and His name is Jesus.
We are not sinless. We sin frequently --- against God, ourselves and others. It brings evil and pain to all. Sin grieves the very heart of God and is pervasive in our culture. But Jesus Christ, as the God-Man never ever sinned!
That truth should give us hope and comfort!
It was His sinlessness that qualified Him to become our substitute.
It was that truth that enabled Him to go to Calvary’s cross and die as our substitute on that cross.
He died for sinners only --- for you and me.
He endured the wrath of God. He experienced the condemnation all by Himself.
He died alone --- for sinners like you and me!
His sinlessness qualified Him to do that for us.
Thank God today for the holy, sinless and morally perfect life of the Son of God!
