ATTRIBUTES OF GOD
An attribute is a quality or characteristic that belongs to a person. It is a trait of who they really are. Attributes tell us what God is really like. Your understanding of God should be based upon the teachings of Scripture and not from someone who does not really know God!
Attributes define and describe who God really is. They reveal for us the depth and quality of His true character. Some of you are perhaps familiar with a few of these and some truths you may not be aware of --- but we are going to look at some of the more important ones. But first, consider for example, God has three attributes that man does not have and cannot ever possess. God is love and man can love; he can show some mercy; He can demonstrate some justice. But God possesses all His attributes perfectly and completely. But man, me and you, do not possess the following characteristics:
God is eternal --- no beginning and no ending. Always present!
God is self existent --- no one made God or created God. He has just always been in existence.
God is self sufficient --- He needs nothing outside Himself. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, dwelling in total and complete Trinitarian self sufficiency! Before anything was even created!
Think about those truths for today. This is why God is not man! And why man is not God!
