THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS

 THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS

TEXT: “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.”

Matthew 4:1

Immediately after His public baptism. Immediately after the heavens opened and the Father said, “This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.” Immediately, Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan.

I have a question for you: was there ever ANY chance that Jesus would succumb to the temptations? Was there ever any possibility that the Son of God would have sinned? And if He had sinned --- just saying --- what would have been the consequences?

Would that have disqualified Him from being our Savior and Substitute?

Would that mean that God’s eternal plan had failed?

Would God revert to Plan B had Jesus sinned?

Would we need another Jesus?

If Jesus Christ was the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world as it says in Revelation 13:8, was there ever even the slightest possibility that Jesus would have sinned?

Was God the Father watching from heaven and wringing His hands and sweating bullets --waiting to see if Jesus would sin? Hoping for the best and prepared for the worst?

What if Jesus had just a weak moment and said yes?

Question: if there was never a possibility that Jesus would have sinned --- does that mean that His temptation was real? Was it a farce? A charade? Gotta come back tomorrow for the  answer to that question!
