FORGETTING GOD!

Last Sunday we talked about what happens when a nation forgets God. It creates chaos and uncertainty. It breeds confusion of all types and brings down upon us the wrath of God. We used as various examples the nation of Israel, the great Roman Empire and the worldwide, once powerful British Empire. All those nations forgot about their Creator and God. All of them were great nations at one time or another in history. Some would be considered major nations or super powers. But something happened …

They started calling evil, good.

They called darkness, light.

They called wrong, right.

They found substitutes for God.

They ignored God’s Word.

They refused to bend and bow to His truth.

Their religion faded into mere form and rituals.

They put themselves first.

They became more man centered than God centered.

They proved the reality of the truth found in Psalm 9:17 which declares that “the wicked shall be turned into Hell and all the nations that forget God.”

It is one thing to forget to turn off a light in the house. It is quite another thing to “forget” about the One who created you, who sustains, and who saves you. The most wicked thing any person could ever do is to “forget God.”

Dangerous.

Damning.

Destructive.

Deadly!

Deuteronomy 8:19 “And if you forget the LORD your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you today that you shall surely perish.” That is a strong word from the LORD! See you in church (in person or online at 10:15 a.m. at www.southportchurchroebuck.org) on this Lord’s Day!
