Everybody has some authority in their life. It is either you or the State (government) or God! You do what you do because you think it is OK to do it. You refuse to do certain things because you are afraid of getting caught and punished. And, as to God in your life, you try to either please Him or you just don’t care!
For the Christian and one who believes the Bible, God is our authority. We try to live according to the truth of the Bible. Don’t always succeed but it is our ultimate authority. Charles H. Spurgeon, noted pastor and author of the 19th century makes this observation:
“I believe certain doctrines because God says they are true; and the only authority I have for their truth is the Word of God. I receive such and such doctrines, not because I can prove them to be compatible with human reason, not because my judgment accepts them, but because God says they are true. Now this is one of the best services we can render to God > to submit ourselves to Him in our belief of what He has revealed, and ask Him to fix His truths in our hearts, and make us obey them.”
Do you realize that if every American embraced that statement, what kind of country we could have?
Do you believe that if we really believed that truth, the profound change it would have for all families.?
If all churches joined hands and hearts and said amen to the above statement, do you realize what kind of churches we would have?
Submission.
Truth in the heart.
Obedience.
